William Everett Weir, 72 years old, of 709 Grave avenue, died suddenly of a heart attack Thursday afternoon at 3:20 o'clock (CDT). He had spent most of life farming and in recent years had worked at Petts Flower shop and Art furniture shop. He was born in New Market Dec. 8, 1878, the son of Alexander and Rebecca Michael Weir. On Oct. 24, 1900, he married Effie Parkinson. They recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home here. Mr. Weir was a member of the Ridgefarm United Brethren church, Surviving is the widow; two sons. Joel A., of Crawfordsville, and Willard A., of Tuscon, Ariz.; four daughters, Mrs. Roy Thompson and Mrs. Gerold Titus, both of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Robert Watkins, of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Robert Bowman, of Lafayette; a sister, Mrs. Lolitha Jane Hubbard, of Yountsville; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at the Proffitt & Sons mortuary Monday at 2:30 p.m. with burial in the Waynetown cemetery.
